The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has deployed Belarc's BelManage system to over 57,000 of their IT assets, including desktops, laptops and servers including virtual machines (VMs). The FAA's initial goal is to use Belarc's products, including the Data Analytics module, for software license management in support of their Microsoft, Oracle database, ESRI and other enterprise software contracts. The FAA's IT assets are located throughout the US, and in order to be cost effective, their software licensing is being managed on an enterprise wide basis. Belarc's products automatically create a central repository with details about the FAA's installed software, whether the software is being used and automatically compares that data to the FAA's purchase records. Complex licensing metrics for products such as SQL Server, Oracle database and Windows server products are included with Belarc's software licensing reports.

The FAA deployed BelManage to all of their host systems in under a month, including testing. Since the rollout, BelManage has automatically updated its central repository on a daily basis, and allows secure access by administrators throughout the FAA. This data has allowed the FAA to gain control of their IT assets for configuration management, IT security, software licensing and other lifecycle programs.
